The Bible is the book that God has written to man,
“But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God,” 2 Peter 1:20-21.
It contains what God wants for man to know, and is sufficient for the task for which He sent it,
“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
And do not return there without watering the earth
And making it bear and sprout,
And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it,” Isaiah 55:10-11.
Contained within it is the truth regarding life. When Jesus said to Pilate during his trial, “…for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice,” Pilate answered Him, “What is truth?” John 18:37-38. Pilate’s answer is common among men; they say, “You have your truth, and I have mine.” They say this, that they may do what they wish, without having to face any consequences. But the Bible tells us what truth is, for it defines it, “The sum of Your word is truth,” Psalm 119:160, and again, “Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth,” John 17:17. What God has written to us is the truth; the truth about life, the truth about death, the truth about all things.
What is the Truth?
The main teaching of the Bible is that we have all sinned against God, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23, and that this has caused us to be eternally lost, eternally separated from God, “But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear,” Isaiah 59:2, and, “For the wages of sin is death,” Romans 6:23. Because we have sinned, we are lost. Sin has to be atoned for, and this can only happen by a suitable sacrifice, which we cannot provide, “For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins,” Hebrews 10:4.
But God Himself has provided the sacrifice for the sin of man,
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,” Romans 5:8, and,
“For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit,” 1 Peter 3:18, and again,
“He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed,” 1 Peter 2:24.
The Judgment
Romans 14:10 says, “For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.” In the judgment, we will be judged by the Scriptures,
“He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day,” John 12:48, and again,
“And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds,” Revelation 20:12.
And the fate of man at the judgment is this:
“But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.’” “Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels,’” Matthew 25:31-34,41.
