“The Lord by wisdom founded the earth;
By understanding He established the heavens,” Proverbs 3:19.
“To Him who by wisdom made the heavens,” Psalm 136:5.
“The Lord possessed me at the beginning of His way,
Before His works of old,” Proverbs 8:22-31.
The world was spoken into existence, Genesis 1, but it didn’t just come into being in a haphazard or happenstance way. It was designed from the ground up, so to speak, according to wisdom, that is, it is wise in the way that he set it up.
“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead,” Romans 1:20.
There is much we may learn about God from the creation, to the point that if we take an accurate assessment of it, the only right conclusion we may come to is that he exists. This is the argument he makes in Romans 1:19-20; that he has given us enough evidence of his existence in the creation that we should not fail to reach the conclusion that he exists.
Our very existence is proof of our being created, that we have not evolved. We need only to consider the following to understand this:
The human body needs air to survive; at best, it isn’t possible to live more than a few minutes without it. Evolution states that our bodies were developed over countless years, in the thousands or millions; but how could this be? The oxygen which our blood needs in order for us to survive gets there through the lungs, from the air that we breathe. If we cannot live more than a few minutes without air, how then could we have lived long enough without it to develop lungs by evolution?
We need water to survive; again, it isn’t possible live an extended period of time without it. How then could we have lived long enough to evolve a system for taking in water, when we can’t survive without it in the first place?
Our bodies need the nourishment provided by eating in order to continue living. Again, we couldn’t survive without food long enough to develop a system for the intake and use of it.
The human race, indeed, most species, produce offspring by mating. Again, our lifespan is so short that we couldn’t have survived as a race long enough to evolve the method of procreation.
These are sufficient to show that it isn’t possible for us to have slowly evolved into what we are; we are scientific proof of our creation. By wisdom he created us with three needs which must be constantly met, or we will die. These three, air, water, and food, bear witness to us that we are created, and, “Every fact is to be confirmed by the testimony of two or three witnesses,” 2 Corinthians 13:1.
The theory of evolution only deals with preexisting matter; it doesn’t attempt to answer where that matter originated from in the first place (even the big bang theory assumes that already existing matter exploded). Before you can even begin to build the house of evolution, you must first lay the foundation of abiogenesis, the origin of living matter. On this, the evolutionists are completely silent.
Now, the prevailing theory is that the universe began with an enormous explosion, that from this sprang an orderly universe, and life; but what explosion have you ever seen produce order and life? To the contrary, they produce chaos and death, unerringly.
Where did the matter that supposedly exploded in the big bang come from? We know that in this creation everything has a beginning, and all living things have an end. Therefore, the matter that supposedly exploded, what is its origin? The mistake they make, is in looking at the world that exists, and assuming that matter is eternal. But again, everything in the physical world has a beginning and an end; matter is physical, therefore it cannot always have existed. And this the Bible addresses, “By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible,” Hebrews 11:3.
But someone will say, “But you say God is eternal.” Fair enough. But we know that our knowledge is limited, for he says,
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts,” Isaiah 55:9,
and again,
“Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end,” Ecclesiastes 3:11.
We know that eternity is real; but it goes backwards as well as forwards, and we cannot grasp there being no beginning. That we are limited by him in our understanding explains why we cannot grasp the eternal existence of God. If one is inclined to say that this is an easy answer, understand that there is no other possible answer for there being no beginning, for eternity going backwards; for it is utterly incomprehensible, yet undeniably true.
“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead,” Romans 1:20.
What then are the attributes that are seen?
His care for us
He has created us with the need to eat, drink, and breathe, and he amply provides for those needs, and freely.
He created the family, that the children are cared for until they are old enough to fend for themselves.
He created the family, that we might always have an anchor, stretching both before us and after us.
His kindness
We need to eat, and he has made it a pleasant experience. We have a wide variety of good-tasting food.
The ground on which we walk isn’t fully covered with sharp rocks, or the like. Grass is pleasant to walk on, and the dirt is not unpleasant.
Likewise, the earth isn’t all mountains and hills, but is supplied with wide open plains for us to live in.
The earth is very beautiful.
His power
He is able to create this existence.
He is able to create us.
He is able to provide for the needs of his creation, to sustain it.
His eternal nature
A man is here, and then he is gone, but the earth continues to be sustained.
To be continued...
